Winter Workshop Coming Up on 1/21!

Happy new year to our Community of Practice! With a new year comes a new chance for us to share our project updates with all of you, and catch up on what you’ve been working on (and/or hear your holiday stories). Fall Workshop Coming Up on 10/6!

The weather is cooling down, sweaters are starting to look more appealing, and pumpkin spice is everywhere you look…it must be fall, which means it’s time for another WICDI workshop! WICDI at WLIA

When WICDI presented at the 2020 Annual Spring WLIA Conference in February, we had no idea it would be our last in-person presentation for months to come. The thought of being in a room with dozens to hundreds of other people feels foreign and intimidating now, to say the least.

However, in the past several months we’ve become well-versed in the art of the virtual meeting, and its close cousin, the virtual presentation. In today’s blog post, I’ll recap both our in-person and our online presentations for WLIA this year.

The Power of Story Maps

Data and statistics are wonderful: they help us make sense of our world by measuring, quantifying, and analyzing the events around us. But sometimes, data on their own can be hard to conceptualize – or even boring. Spatial data especially can benefit from different types of visualization to bring them to life. Enter story maps.
